Rumen Capote is considered one of the founders of the so-called "new journalism" genre in literature. The novel "Without a Shaking Hand" is his most important work. The novel is based on a real story - a murder committed in Kansas in 1959, when an entire family (father, mother and two children) were killed - and is an attempt to unravel violence as a complex social and psychological phenomenon. The book became a bestseller upon its release and laid the foundation for a special genre of "novel-reportage", which later had followers (Tom Wolfe, Norman Mailer).
