King Manuel I of Portugal, during a visit to the Alhambra Palace, was fascinated by the stunning beauty of the decorative tiles (Azulejos) and ordered his palace in Portugal to be covered with similar wall tiles. In Azul, each player will have to fulfill the king’s order and decorate the walls of the Royal Palace of Evora with beautiful ceramic tiles. By placing tiles on the wall, players collect points and try to build the highest-scoring decoration. They can also earn bonus points for specific combinations and arrangements. The player with the most points wins the game.
